Completing the Federal Direct Loan MPN

Q1. There is not a place on the web page to complete the Master Promissory Note – or – I don't see the green "Sign-In" button to click on. How do I begin the process?

Q2. What if I can't remember my Federal PIN # to sign the MPN electronically?

A2. Go to and request a duplicate pin # (menu option on the left menu bar). Choose the "display now" option and you should be able to access your PIN# immediately. If you have any PIN # questions, contact the Federal Student Aid Help Desk at 1-800-433-3243.

Q3. I'm using my PIN # and I'm being given a message that my name doesn't match my name on the PIN #. How can I resolve this issue?

A3. Contact the Federal Student Aid Help Desk at 1-800-433-3243 for any PIN # related issues.

Q4. The system keeps going down or locks up. How can this be resolved?

A4. Contact the Federal Direct Loan Help Desk at 1-800-557-7394. Be sure you have 20-30 minutes available when you begin the process so it can be completed in one session.

Q5. I'm having problems signing my MPN online with my PIN #. What do I do now?

Q6. When I contacted the Federal Student Aid or Federal Direct Loan Help Desk, the representative told me that the college is not approved to offer federal direct loans.
