Important Dates & Deadlines 

The NIC Financial Aid Office has created a list of dates and deadlines to assist and better inform NIC students. Please take a look at the information below, so you understand and know disbursement dates, bookstore charges, and other important information regarding any financial aid deadlines.

October 2016
1 Financial Aid FAFSA forms available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov for 2017-2018.
3 Incomplete grades due for 2016 Spring Semester and Summer Session.
10 Last day to appeal for Financial Aid for Fall 2016 semester.
10 - 14 Fall Semester midterm exams.
18 Fall Semester midterm grades due by 10 a.m.
25 Advising Day. Classes that meet at 4 p.m. or later are in session.
31 Registration begins for continuing students for Spring Semester.

November 2016
1 Priority deadline to apply for Spring Semester 2017 graduation.
4 Registration begins for continuing dual credit students for Spring Semester.
4 Second Fall Semester financial aid disbursement for student loans.
4 Last day to withdraw from full-semester Fall Semester courses or college.
7 Registration begins for former students for Spring Semester.
14 Registration begins for new students including dual credit and non-degree for Spring Semester.
23 - 26 Thanksgiving Holiday. Campus closed.

December 2016
8 Last day of Fall Semester classes.
9 Curriculum Day. Classes that meet at 4 p.m. or later are in session.
12 - 15 Fall Semester textbook buy back at the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore.
12 - 15 Final exams.
15 Admission application deadline 5 p.m. for Spring Semester.
15 Priority financial aid deadline.
15 Fall Semester ends.
20 Fall Semester final grades due by 10 a.m.
25 Christmas Day. Campus closed.
26 Christmas Day observed. Campus closed.
27 - 30 Holiday Break. Campus closed.

January 2017
2 New Year's Day observed. Campus closed.
3 Spring Semester financial aid charges begin and continue through 2:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore.
3 Faculty return to campus.
3 Textbooks available for Spring Semester.
4 Housing and tuition charges due 5 p.m. for students residing in the Residence Hall.
8 Payment due for students registered for Spring Semester.
9 Spring Semester begins.
9 Payment required at time of registration or when semester begins.
9 - 10 Fall Semester textbook buy back at the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore.
9 - 16 Spring Semester course add/drops.
16 Payment plan registration ends.
16 Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Campus closed.
16 - 24 Spring Semester course drops continue.
20 Spring Semester financial aid charges end at 2:30 p.m. at the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore.
23 Attendance rosters for Spring Semester course sections due by 10 a.m.
24 Drop for non-attendance of Spring Semester course sections.
24 Last day for 100 percent refund for Spring Semester.
24 Financial Aid Census Date.
25 Spring Semester course drops with a grade of W begins.
27 First Spring Semester financial aid disbursement.

February 2017
20 Presidents' Day. Campus closed.
21 Incomplete grades due for Fall Semester 2016.
27 Last Day to appeal for Financial Aid for Spring 2017 semester.
27 - 28 Spring Semester midterm exams begins.

March 2017
1 - 3 Spring Semester midterm exams continue.
7 Spring Semester midterm grades due by 10 a.m.
15 Scholarship priority deadline.
24 Second Spring Semester financial aid disbursement for student loans.
24 Last day to withdraw from full-length Spring Semester courses or college.
27 - 31 Spring Break. Classes not in session.

April 2017
1 Priority deadline to apply for Summer Session 2017 graduation.
6 Advising Day. Classes that meet at 4 p.m. or later are in session.
6 Registration begins for continuing students for Summer Session.
7 Registration begins for continuing dual credit students for Summer Session.
10 Registration begins for continuing students for Fall Semester.
14 Registration begins for continuing dual credit students for Fall Semester.
17 Registration begins for former students for Summer Session and Fall Semester.
24 Registration begins for new students including dual credit and non-degree for Summer Session and Fall Semester.

May 2017

4 Last day of regular Spring Semester classes.

12 Commencement 10 a.m.
15 Four-week and eight-week career technical education Summer Sessions begin.
16 Spring Semester final grades due by 10 a.m.
29 Memorial Day. Campus closed.
31 Summer Session textbooks available.
31 Summer Session financial aid charges begin.

June 2017
1 Admission application deadline 5 p.m. for Summer Session.
1 - 6 Summer Session financial aid charges continue through 5 p.m. June 6 at the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore.
4 Payment due for students registered for Summer Session.
5 Summer Session begins.
5 Payment required at time of registration or when Summer Session begins.
5 - 6 Summer Session course add/drops.
6 Summer Session financial aid charges end at 5 p.m. at the Mica Peak Exchange bookstore.
7 - 13 Summer Session course drops continue.
9 Four-week career technical education Summer Session ends.
