Presidential Plunge Food Drive

Help stock the new NIC Food Pantry.

Donate non-perishable food items to the receptacle in the following locations to save the President's Cabinet member of your choice!

     Team Graydon Stanley:  SUB
     Team Mark Browning:     Sherman Building
     Team Lita Burns:             Molstead Library
     Team Chris Martin:          Lee-Kildow Hall

The team with the fewest number of items will take a dive in a dunk tank during the Day of Welcome Aug. 27. The winning team will get to dunk NIC President Joe Dunlap!

The NIC Food Pantry is a new effort to help provide food to NIC employees and students (with a valid Cardinal Card) when help is needed. The pantry is open 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays in the lower level of Edminster Student Union Building (SUB 014) while classes are in session, or by appointment by calling Jessica Bennett at (208) 769-3299. The NIC Food Pantry will be a safe and welcoming place designed to meet immediate food needs. Help get it stocked and ready for Fall Semester 2014!

NIC Boys and Girls Summer Technology Camps

1 PM - 5 PM
Seiter Hall Computer Lab 211

Class: 3-D Animation and Games using ALICE 2.0
(Both boys and girls are welcome, but girls are encouraged to participate in this particular camp.)
Date: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – August 12-14, 2014
Age Group: 12-18 yrs. $69.00

Description: Beginning level no prior experience needed. The Alice 3-D software system is a learning tool for beginning level programmers. Students will be able to make storytelling animations and interactive games with Alice programming software. One of the many strengths of Alice is that it has been able to make abstract concepts concrete in the eyes of first – time programmers by using drag-drop methods that minimizes syntax errors. By using 3-D graphics, Alice speaks directly to a generation raised on video games. We encourage girls to sign up for this class.
