Backpacking - Clinic 2 (Class Session)

5:30 PM - 7 PM
Outdoor Center

Escape to the mountains with Outdoor Pursuits.  This course will prepare you for a lifetime of overnight hikes.  We will spend an evening in the classroom discussing proper equipment, trip preparation, and basic navigation followed by a long weekend putting it all together in the wilderness.  Fee includes instruction and transportation.  All equipment and food will be the responsibility of the participants.  Students must be 18 years of age.

Summer lake breezes invite you to learn to sail. Enjoy 12 hours of hands-on, wet and wild small boat sailing instruction on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Spending the majority of our lesson time on the water ensures that the student has a better chance of retaining the information after the course is complete. Proper use of equipment, safety, and terminology are all covered. Swimming skills are required. Students must be 18 years of age.

Stand Up Paddleboarding - Clinic 3

Come experience the fastest growing paddle sport in America with Outdoor Pursuits.  Our certified instructors will have you standing and paddling your way across Lake Coeur d’Alene in no time.  This course is designed for the beginner.  All students should be prepared to get very wet.  Swimming skills are required.  Fee includes all necessary equipment.  Students must be 18 years of age.

Presidential Plunge Food Drive


Help stock the new NIC Food Pantry.

Donate non-perishable food items to the receptacle in the following locations to save the President's Cabinet member of your choice!

     Team Chris Martin:          Lee-Kildow Hall

The team with the fewest number of items will take a dive in a dunk tank during the Day of Welcome Aug. 27. The winning team will get to dunk NIC President Joe Dunlap!

The NIC Food Pantry is a new effort to help provide food to NIC employees and students (with a valid Cardinal Card) when help is needed. The pantry is open 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays in the lower level of Edminster Student Union Building (SUB 014) while classes are in session, or by appointment by calling Jessica Bennett at (208) 769-3299. The NIC Food Pantry will be a safe and welcoming place designed to meet immediate food needs. Help get it stocked and ready for Fall Semester 2014!
