The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later

Like The Laramie Project, no words are fictional - all come directly from interviews with Tectonic Theatre Project or from court or police records. This is a powerful play that reminds us to respect the dignity of all members in our community.

The cast includes NIC students Jason Burdette, Megan Curran, Patrick O'Farrell, Patric Schwaab, Katie Taylor, and Sam Williamson. We also have former NIC students Jonathan Breitkreutz, Lindsay Teter, and Loretta Underwood. Breitkreutz and Underwood were in our production of The Laramie Project in 2010.

There will be talk backs with the audience and company scheduled for 4/18, 19, and 25 following the play.

The play is intended for mature audiences. Please do not bring infants.

The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Outdoor Center
Whether you were born with your toes on the nose or have never tasted the sea doesn’t matter. We’re all heading to Cannon Beach, Oregon to surf, hike, and just have fun. This one’s not to be missed. Trip fee covers transportation and camping. We will rent surf boards at Cannon Beach Surf Shop (approx. $35).

Outdoor Pursuits Hybrid Wilderness First Responder Course**

8 AM - 6 PM
Outdoor Center
Wilderness First Responder is the standard level of medical training expected for professional guides, outdoor educators, and outdoor enthusiasts. After successful completion of this course, you will be competent to handle both traumatic and medical emergencies, provide the extended care required in a remote environment, and make appropriate evacuation decisions. The curriculum for this 80-hour Hybrid WFR course heavily favors hands-on, realistic, scenario-based practice as well as self-paced online learning modules. Students will complete 30 hours of online work between May 1 and May 14. The remaining 50 hours will be hands-on at the Outdoor Center from May 14-18. Please contact Jon Totten at jgtotten@nic.edu with any questions you may have.

Meet in the Outdoor Center from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Comprehensive Fundamentals Camp
Basic basketball skills for all levels.
For grades 3-7.

Guard-Post Play Camp
Develop your individual position skills.
For grades 6-12.

Shooting Camp
Extensive shooting instruction, basic fundamentals, advanced footwork, and shooting mentality.

3-4:30 p.m. (36 player limit).

North Idaho Wrestling Camps I (high school only)

7:30 AM - 4 PM
Christianson Gymnasium

This team camp has limited space. Three sessions of wrestling will be held each day. The morning session is technique instruction, followed by two duals in the afternoon and evening sessions. A team champion will be determined following pool competition. Each team will consist of approximately 15 weight classes. Extra team members will be place on teams that are short on weight classes. In just one week, campers receive nearly half the live match competition they’ll receive a full high school season.

Class: Robot Virtual Worlds-Gaming
Date: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – August 5-7, 2014 
Age Group: 12-18 yrs. $69.00

Description: Beginning level no prior experience needed. The course is appropriate for any student interested in learning how to program in RobotC along with the hands-on experience of making the NXT Robot run on the programs and obstacle courses designed in class. This includes training on RobotC Virtual Worlds (RVW) where students create programs and games that do not require a robot!

Description: Beginning level no prior experience needed. Master programming the Lego NXT Mindstorm Robots using a graphical user interface (GUI). Students will program the robots to run on an obstacle course. A challenge tournament will be held the last hour of class on August 7. This can be used for pre-training for FLL competitive robotics team.

Class: 3-D Animation and Games using ALICE 2.0 
(Both boys and girls are welcome, but girls are encouraged to participate in this particular camp.)
Date: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – August 12-14, 2014
Age Group: 12-18 yrs. $69.00

Description: Beginning level no prior experience needed. The Alice 3-D software system is a learning tool for beginning level programmers. Students will be able to make storytelling animations and interactive games with Alice programming software. One of the many strengths of Alice is that it has been able to make abstract concepts concrete in the eyes of first – time programmers by using drag-drop methods that minimizes syntax errors. By using 3-D graphics, Alice speaks directly to a generation raised on video games. We encourage girls to sign up for this class.
