NIC to host Special Needs Basketball Extravaganza Oct. 21

Special Needs Basketball Extravaganza participant shoots hoops

A participant in last year’s extravaganza takes it to the hoop. This year’s event will tip off at 5:45 p.m. and then 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.

For the fourth year, North Idaho College will host a Special Needs Basketball Extravaganza Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Christianson Gym. The first game will tip off at 5:45 p.m. and the second game will tip off at 7 p.m.

The extravaganza is a chance for our special needs athletes to experience the bright lights and wild atmosphere of a big time college basketball game. Athletes are introduced on the court with smoke machines and laser lights while being announced on the loudspeaker. NIC basketball players and coaches also help make it a special night for all the players.

“This event is just a blast for everyone. Bring your family to cheer on these special needs children while they have the time of their lives,” said Cal DeHaas, NIC instructor and event organizer. “It’s an awesome night of free, family fun.”

The free event is sponsored by Real Life Ministries and NIC.
