Local entrepreneur Nick Smoot will be the speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday, February 23, at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Nick Smoot has spent 13 years in marketing, branding, and strategy. It began with seven years in the nonprofit world, where he led statewide initiatives, global leadership development trips, and educational tours for teens in the Middle East, South America, and Africa before he became a turn-around consultant.

After two years of consulting, he co-founded an online psychology test prep education company, Taylor Study Method, which become the leading solution provider. Next he co-founded an online real estate tech company, toor.me. It was known as the leading solution for home tours within five months and was acquired in the 8th month by the largest provider of real estate search apps, Smarter Agent. This landed Smoot in the seat of helping major franchise organizations, C21, Sothebys, Keller Williams, Alain Pinel, Hearst Corp, and others, think through their mobile marketing strategies.

Recently Nick started an app company, Hyplify, that provides community engagement apps for brands and fans. His company was listed as one of the 100 most brilliant companies of 2013 by Entrepreneur Magazine. His app was featured in the App Store as “Best New App.” He partnered with Virgin America, TedX, Gogo, and Mensa. Most notably, Virgin America earned the No. 8 Most Innovative Company in the world award from Fast Company and two of the software integrations provided by his company were listed as reasons for the award.

Now Smoot serves as an advisor to companies, large and small, while he also nurtures startup communities through his organization, Innovation Collective.

The NIC basketball and wrestling coaches will also provide previews of the upcoming NJCAA post season tournaments.

The NIC Booster Club meets twice a month, on the second and last Tuesday of each month. The special NIC Booster Club lunch menu is $10 or less and the public is welcome to attend the luncheon.
