NIC offers assistance filling out financial aid application

North Idaho College will offer assistance on completing the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the standard form used by most colleges and universities to award financial aid. Financial aid experts will assist individuals from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, on the second floor of Molstead Library on NIC’s main Coeur d’Alene campus.

FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process. It is used to apply for federal student financial aid, such as Pell Grants, student loans and the Work-Study program. In addition, most colleges use FAFSA information to award their own financial aid.

Assistance will be provided to all individuals regardless of what college or university they are planning to attend. The event will also include door prizes and snacks as well as detailed information on any changes in federal financial aid being imposed for fall 2016.

Students and/or parents should bring their Social Security number, driver’s license, 2015 W2 forms, 2015 Federal Tax Return (if filed)  and other records of money the student or their parents earned in 2015 (including the student’s and parents’ untaxed income records, current bank statements and investment records).

Additional information is available at the FAFSA website at or at the NIC financial aid website at
