NIC Foundation awards $55,000 in grants

The North Idaho College Foundation recently announced the recipients of $55,000 in grant funds awarded this year through the NIC Foundation Grant Program.

The goal of the grant program is to foster innovation and educational excellence, and strengthen support services at North Idaho College. Charitable donations received by the Foundation each year provide the resources to fund this grant program.

Since the program’s inception in 1994, the Foundation has funded $1,208,578 for 291 grants. A committee of representatives from the Associated Students of NIC, Staff Assembly and Faculty Assembly, Student Services, Instruction and the NIC Foundation chose the recipients based on each grant proposal’s relationship to the college’s strategic plan and its potential to advance the vision and mission of NIC.

The grant recipients are as follows:

·         Business and Professional/Law Enforcement Basic Patrol Academy. Funding for laptop computers for the academy classroom that will allow students to access course material, take notes, and complete online course exams.

·         Career Services. Funding for displays to promote “Student Awareness and Use of Career Services to Support Guided Pathways” and to provide students with information about career counseling services.
