Four NIC basketball players sign with NCAA colleges
NIC Men’s Basketball players and coaching staff celebrated national signing day recently, honoring four players departing for NCAA programs. Four North Idaho College
basketball players have signed letters of commitment to play at NCAA colleges.
“Several major Division I schools and Division II schools have been recruiting several NIC players all year,” said Corey Symons, NIC head men’s basketball coach. “Four other Cardinals sophomores are expected to sign at four-year schools in the next few weeks.”
Sophomore team captain Sam Dowd, from Federal Way, Wash., committed to NCAA Division I Idaho State University. Dowd averaged 17 points and an NWAC-league leading seven assists. Zaequan "Ziggy" Satterthwaite, from Puyallup, Wash., signed to play at Point Loma University, an NCAA Division II program in San Diego. Satterthwaite averaged 14 points and eight rebounds, and both he and Dowd finished their Cardinal careers tied for the school record for wins at 56.
Markus Golder, a redshirt freshman from Clackamas, Ore., signed with NCAA Division I Valparaiso University in Indiana after he was named Freshman of the Year in the NWAC East. He averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds on 55 percent shooting from the field. Niko Bevens, a true freshman from Beaverton, Ore., signed to play at NCAA Division I University of Montana. He ended the year shooting 50 percent from the 3-point line, making 111 three-pointers throughout the season.Posted: Friday, April 14, 2017
