‘Turmoil' art exhibit to show in the NIC Corner Gallery until Feb. 2

Montana-based artist James Bailey will exhibit his art entitled “Turmoil” in the Boswell Hall Corner Gallery at North Idaho College from Nov. 14 – Feb. 2.

Bailey will host a gallery walk of his work at 10:30 a.m., followed by a slide lecture at 4 p.m. in Boswell Hall Room 146, and an opening reception in the gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. – all on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Bailey was born in New Jersey and grew up in Minneapolis. He earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Minnesota and his master of fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently an artist and professor in the School of Art at the University of Montana. He is also one of the co-founders for the Annual Day of the Dead Steamroller Print Project now moving into its sixteenth year.

As an artist, Bailey continues his research into both traditional and experimental approaches in printmaking. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally in over 300 exhibitions and national print portfolios across 35 states as well as Estonia, France, China, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections including those of the Walker Art Center, New York Public Library, Jundt Art Museum, Boise Art Museum, Mesa Arts Center, Hillard University Art Museum and Sioux City Arts Center, among others. Bailey was interviewed for the full-length documentary film on printmaking titled Midwest Matrix and he serves on the board for the Printmaking Legacy Project.
