WSU football legend Sorensen to speak to NIC Booster Club

Paul Sorensen, former Washington State University football All-American, will be the guest speaker at the NIC Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Outback Steakhouse in Coeur d’Alene.

Sorensen played football for the WSU Cougars from 1980 to 1982 after transferring from Diablo Valley College in California. He was part of WSU’s 1981 Holiday Bowl team—the Cougars’ first bowl since 1931—and he earned football and National Education Association All-America first team honors. Sorensen was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 1982 NFL draft.

After his retirement from the NFL and a stint in the USFL, Sorensen served as the color analyst for Cougar Football Radio broadcasts for 14 years. Since then, he has been part of the Eastern Washington University football broadcast team. This year, he was inducted into the WSU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Sorensen understands the role that junior college athletics can play for young student-athletes to maximize their development for success.

The public is welcome to attend the luncheon. The NIC Booster Club meets on the second and last Tuesday of each month at noon at various locations in the community. Check out the NIC Athletics Department website for more details at or contact the NIC Athletics Office at (208) 769-3348.
