Crisis services available

The NIC Crisis Recovery Unit has been activated to support the Coeur d'Alene School District Crisis Team after the devastating news that Coeur d'Alene High School Principal Troy Schueller passed away Wednesday afternoon from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Troy has been connected to North Idaho College for many years, and this tragic loss is felt deeply at NIC as well as throughout the entire community.

NIC's Crisis Response Unit has been asked to assist the Coeur d'Alene School District Crisis Team in providing support for anyone affected by this tragedy.

Coeur d'Alene High School has canceled school TODAY Thursday, March 22, but will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for students, families, and for the general public to seek support.

The joint crisis response team will also be available Friday, March 23 and next week for support and assistance.

If you or someone you know is struggling with this loss, please contact Tim Gerlitz at (208) 769-7794 or tim.gerlitz@nic.edu, or Deb Ferguson at (208) 769-3362 or deborah.ferguson@nic.edu.
