Public invited to NIC Diversity Symposium April 17
The community is invited to participate in a variety of free events being held all day Tuesday, April 17, at North Idaho College’s third annual Diversity Symposium in the Edminster Student Union Building on NIC’s main campus.
Highlights of the event include fine arts displays, roundtable sessions on “Banishing Bias,” an interactive choir, and panel discussion on “Peaceful Progress in Human Rights.”
Tony Stewart, co-founder of Human Rights Education Institute, human rights activist, and former NIC Political Science instructor, will be the keynote speaker from the panel discussion, which will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Other panelists include Lita Burns, NIC vice president for Instruction and HREI board member, and Elva Allan, owner of Advanced Management Strategies, which offers management consulting in areas of education, early childhood, and tribal and Hispanic issues.
