NIC expects 310 graduates to walk May 11

The North Idaho College 2018 Commencement Ceremony will be held in Christianson Gym at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11. About 310 graduates are expected to walk this year out of about 875 eligible for graduation.

This year's speaker at the commencement ceremony will be Dr. Ryan Bones. Bones said he knew at an early age that his calling in life was to help people live happier, healthier and more successful lives. After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska and a doctorate from Parker University in Dallas, Texas, he relocated to Coeur d'Alene immediately after graduation and opened Beyond Bones Chiropractic. In doing so, he discovered a passion for communication, networking, and entrepreneurship that eventually led him to become president and co-owner of ChiroSushi, a chiropractic media company, and co-founder of Ascension Consulting with his wife Cassidy. Named one of Kootenai County's "Top 30, Under 40" and North Idaho's Best Chiropractor for his work locally, Bones also travels nationally to speak on health, marketing, leadership, and more, including two TEDx talks.

Only guests with a ticket will be admitted to the ceremony.

Extra tickets will be distributed to students participating in the ceremony on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday, May 9, beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the Registrar's Office. Picture ID is required.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early for seating and parking. Campus streets will close down at 9:45 a.m. for the processional. Parking permits will not be needed the day of commencement. Portions of College Drive from Garden Avenue south to McLain Hall will be closed for additional disabled parking. Those needing special accommodations should call NIC Disability Support Services at (208) 769-5947. The Commencement Ceremony will also be streamed live in the Edminster Student Union Building adjacent to the gym.

Graduates, friends and families are invited to a reception sponsored by the NIC Alumni Association honoring this year's graduates immediately following the Commencement ceremony in the plaza by the fountain behind Lee-Kildow Hall, which will include an all-class photo that will be posted to the NIC Flickr account at
