NIC to hold auditions for two plays Aug. 28, 29

The North Idaho College Theatre Department is holding open auditions for the plays “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” and “SYM” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Wednesday, Aug. 29, in the Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center on NIC’s main campus.

“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” is a parody of Philip Glass and Robert Wilson collaborations and will require some movement and voice.

“SYM” is a movement based abstract music theatre performance that will be developed during the rehearsal process and will be an exciting, unique experience, guest directed by Crystal Bain.

There are openings for about 16 people for the two plays. Auditions will consist of movement and vocal work. Actors do not need to prepare anything in advance, but should wear clothing that allows them to move freely. The performances will be held Oct. 18-20 and 25-27 in Schuler Performing Arts Center. Rehearsals begin Sept. 4. Community members are encouraged to audition.

“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” by David Ives is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
