NIC to asphalt former Robin Hood Campground

North Idaho College will begin laying recycled asphalt on the former Robin Hood Campground Monday, Aug. 9 and is cautioning drivers to watch for work vehicles when driving onto campus and in the Fort Grounds area. Work began in April to convert the campground to a parking lot in order to expand the college's parking capacity. All buildings were removed from the former campground except for the barbershop, which will be converted into a waiting area for the NIC Shuttle Express. The Ponderosa Pine trees on the site remain on the grounds, but the other trees and brush were removed so lighting could be added to provide a safe venue for evening parking by students and staff. Asphalting is scheduled to be complete by Aug. 13 and the lot is scheduled to be complete by the start of Fall Semester Aug. 30.
