Five recruits sign with NIC women's basketball

Five athletes recently accepted scholarships to transfer from other regional colleges to play for the North Idaho College women's basketball team in the 2004-2005 season. Juli Pearson graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School and is transferring to NIC from Brigham Young University-Hawaii. Pearson, a 6-foot-1-inch inside player, has committed to playing volleyball as well as basketball for NIC next season. Jeni Boesel graduated from Brewster High School in Brewster, Wash., and is transferring to NIC after playing one season at the University of Portland. She led her high school team to three state championships and scored more than 2,700 points in her high school basketball career, including an average of 29 points per game her senior year. Ahlee Thomas graduated from Mountain View High School in Bend, Ore., and is transferring to NIC after one season at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. Thomas, a 6-foot forward, brings experience to the team from one of the premier programs in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, according to NIC Head Women's Basketball Coach Chris Carlson. Beth Knudtsen graduated from Issaquah High School in Issaquah, Wash. and is transferring to NIC after playing one season at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. She is a 5-foot-6-inch point guard whose high school career includes making six three-point shots in one quarter and receiving second team All-State tournament honors. Kim Tanascu graduated from Gardiner Junior-Senior High School in Gardiner, Mont. and is transferring to NIC after signing with Montana State University-Northern out of high school. She is 5 feet, 11 inches and averaged 15 points and nine rebounds per game in high school.
