NIC Theater Department to hold auditions for fall play

The North Idaho College Theater Department will be holding auditions for its fall production of Gint. Auditions for five female and four male roles will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 and Wednesday, Sept. 8 in Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium. Community members ages 20 to 50 are encouraged to audition. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the scripts and no prepared material is necessary. Scripts are currently available for early check out in Boswell Hall Room 227. The play is a Romulus Linney play based on the classic play Peer Gynt about a character that lies and seduces his way through life until faced with having to confront his actions. Linney pares down the scenery and characters in the original play by Henrik Ibsen, using nine actors on a simple stage to play 32 characters in locations across the continent. The play contains adult language and sexual situations. Rehearsals will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays beginning Thursday, Sept. 9. Only one weekend rehearsal is currently scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 24 and all cast members will be expected to attend. Performances will be Oct. 28-30 and Nov. 4-6 in NIC's Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium. Information: (208) 769-3220.
