Space still available for seminar on doing business in China

North Idaho College and the Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce are cosponsoring an international business seminar focused on the rapidly-expanding market in China. The introductory seminar “Doing Business in China” will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 17 at the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls. The seminar will cover both the risks and potential benefits of international business opportunities for a number of United States industry sectors, including financial sectors, professional services, distribution, wholesale and retail operations in China. Participants will learn the benefits of international business as an economic development strategy by receiving a market overview of the current China economy along with analysis of key industry sectors in China. Local business leaders, who are currently doing business in China such as Simplot Jacklin Seed Co. and Sunshine Minting, will share their experience as well. “Companies engaged in international business often see wages increase and their companies become more profitable,” said NIC Workforce Training Center Director Robert Ketchum. “This introductory seminar will show business owners and managers how they too can profit from doing business with China.” Cost is $50 for those who register by Friday, Sept. 10. Late registration is $55 per person and can be paid at the door on the day of the seminar. Registered participants are also invited to bring a friend or associate for free. Coeur d'Alene Chamber members will receive a 10 percent discount on registration, $45 early registration or $50 at the door. Registration information: Debbie Hanna at (208) 769-7732.
