NIC volleyball team heads to national tourney

The North Idaho College volleyball team is heading to nationals for the first time in the college's history after a 24-30, 30-22, 30-19, 30-19 win over Snow College in the Nov. 13 tournament for the Region 18 North championship. Kara Kiefer was named MVP of the regional tournament and Tiana Maua and Collese Dornan were named to the All-Region team. Kara Kiefer was named first team All-Scenic West Athletic Conference. Chanele Larsen and Jessica Holland received All-SWAC honorable mention. NIC will join 15 other teams at the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament Nov. 22-24 in West Plains, Mo. The Cardinals will face Southwest Missouri State University-West Plains, the host team, in the first round of the tournament. NIC is seeded No. 11 against the No. 6 seed SMSU-WP team, which has finished second at nationals for the past two years.
