NIC volleyball team takes 10th at nationals

The North Idaho College volleyball team placed 10th in the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament Nov. 22-24 in West Plains, Mo. This was the Cardinals' first national berth in NIC history after a 24-30, 30-22, 30-19, 30-19 win over Snow College in the Nov. 13 tournament won them the Region 18 North championship. The 11th-seeded NIC volleyball team was defeated (30-23, 32-30, 30-24) by the NJCAA tournament host school Southwest Missouri State University-West Plains in the first round of tournament play. NIC went on to beat the No. 14 seeded Temple College of Texas (30-22, 30-21, 30-26) and beat the No. 10 seeded University of Texas-Brownsville (30-27, 31-29, 25-30, 30-24) on the second day of the tournament. NIC was defeated by Seminole State Community College of Oklahoma (No. 8) in the final round of play (30-20, 30-21, 24-30, 30-24), earning NIC 10th place.
