NIC Christmas concert to feature holiday sing-along

This year's annual holiday concert at North Idaho College Dec. 11 and 12 will include the traditional holiday songs and the sing-alongs that bring the crowd to its feet each year. “Sounds of Christmas” will feature several military-themed pieces with marches performed by the NIC Symphonic Band led by Terry Jones. The band will perform “A Holiday Rhapsody” by Larry MacTaggart and “A Rhapsody on Christmas Carols” by Claude Smith as well as Robert Foster's “Emmanuel Variants.” The NIC Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and Men's and Women's Ensembles will perform several pieces separately before the groups team up for a performance of John Rutter's “Candlelight Carol” in which the choir members will add a visual element to the piece with candles on stage. The NIC choral groups will then join forces with the band for the traditional holiday sing-along of well-known Christmas carols with the audience. “This concert is a part of many community members' annual Christmas celebrations,” said NIC Band Director Terry Jones. “Sounds of Christmas” will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 in NIC's Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. Information: (208) 769-7764.
