Stimson Lumber Company contributes to NIC campaign; funds to support student scholarships

Stimson Lumber Company has been a neighbor to the North Idaho College campus since the company purchased the DeArmond mill in 2000. Stimson showed its commitment to education and the community recently through a $25,000 gift to the NIC Providing Opportunities—Fulfilling Dreams Community Campaign to establish the Stimson Lumber Company Scholarship endowment. “We are excited to be joining North Idaho College in support of higher education,” said Jeff Webber, vice president of manufacturing for Stimson Lumber Company, which has assets and manufacturing facilities in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington and manages approximately 500,000 acres of company-owned timberland. “Stimson Lumber Company has always had a strong commitment to supporting education not only for our employees and our employees' children, but also for students who live in the communities in which we have timberlands or manufacturing facilities.” The endowment will live in perpetuity to provide scholarships to NIC Forestry/Wildlife/Range/Wildland Recreation Management, Administrative Assistant, Electronics Technology and Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright students. Gifts to the NIC Providing Opportunities—Fulfilling Dreams Community Campaign support either student scholarships or go toward funding state-of-the-art technology and equipment for the new NIC Health and Sciences Building, scheduled to open in September of this year. The campaign has raised more than $1.4 million to date toward its goal of a minimum of $2 million. “Stimson Lumber Company has been a great neighbor to NIC and we appreciate their generous investment in our students and their success,” said NIC Executive Director Rayelle Anderson. “This contribution will generate hope and financial assistance for deserving NIC students for generations to come.”
