NIC program to host TRIO Day

North Idaho College's Student Support Services program will provide information to the campus and community Friday, Feb. 25. The open house from noon to 1 p.m. is being held in conjunction with National TRIO Day activities across the country. “We wanted to take this opportunity to let the North Idaho College community know who we are and educate them on the services we provide,” said Student Support Services Director Barb Lundberg. “And this TRIO Day is even more special as TRIO programs celebrate their 40th anniversary.” Student Support Services was established under the federally-funded TRIO programs, which were initiated by Congress 40 years ago to assist adults in receiving a college education, regardless of economic circumstance, race or ethnic background. Student Support Services is an academic assistance program focused on helping participating students stay in school and successfully graduate from NIC and transfer to a four-year institution. The program is funded for $228,825 per year providing tutoring, individual instruction, academic advising and mentoring services for more than 120 students at NIC each year. The event is free and open to the community. Student Support Services is located in the south end of Lee-Kildow Hall inside the College Skills Center. Information: (208) 769-3499.
