NIC hires new Idaho Small Business Development Center director

North Idaho College recently hired John Overby to serve as the director of the Idaho Small Business Development Center. Overby most recently served as the director of business development for ALLOPTIC, Inc., a leading manufacturer of Ethernet Passive networking equipment for fiber access owners and operators in California. Overby cofounded World Wide Packets, Inc. in Spokane and COMTECH-AHA, Inc. in Pullman. In the 1980s, he founded and served as CEO and president of Coeur d'Alene's Esterline/Advanced Input Systems, Inc., a flat panel keyboard manufacturer. Overby holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho and has taken advanced studies courses at the California Institute of Technology, the University of Santa Clara, Eastern Washington University and the American Management Association. Overby began working at NIC in February. The Idaho Small Business Development Center provides consulting and training services to small businesses throughout the state through the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls.
