NIC celebrates Latino culture with Celebracion de la Raza
This year's annual Cinco de Mayo celebration at North Idaho College will celebrate the Latino culture with Celebracion de la Raza (celebration of the race) Thursday, May 5 in NIC's Edminster Student Union Building.
Attendees will enjoy the music of Mariachi Guanajuato from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Grand Bay Dining Room of the Edminster Student Union Building.
Dance instructor Felipe Lores of Salsa Spokane will present Salsa dance lessons from noon to 1 p.m. in the Lake Coeur d'Alene Room of Edminster Student Union Building. Los Sabrositos will present a dance demonstration following the mariachi band's performance at 2 p.m. in the Grand Bay Dining Room of the Edminster Student Union Building.
A luncheon sponsored by the NIC Latino Club will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Emery's Restaurant, located on the upper level of Hedlund Building, with traditional Latino foods, such as ceviche, chicken with Mexican mole sauce, Spanish rice and Nicaraguan puerco asado. A few tickets are still available for the event at $6 per person.
The event is sponsored by the NIC Diversity Events Committee and the Latino Club.
