NIC presents an afternoon of music for moms
Wednesday, May 4, 2005
The North Idaho College Symphonic Band and the NIC Madrigal Singers will present “A Mother's Day Celebration,” an afternoon of music for moms beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8 in Coeur d'Alene City Park.
This year's annual Mother's Day Concert in the Park will include the NIC Symphonic Band's performance of “America the Beautiful” as well as several pieces written for classic park bands such as John Phillip Sousa's “King Cotton” and the ragtime pieces “Storm Warning Rag” and “Walking Frog.”
The choir will perform several pieces alone, including “It Was A Lover and His Lass” and James Taylor's version of “That Lonesome Road” before joining with the band for the grand finale performance of Roy Ringwald's “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
The concert is free and open to the public. In the case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium on NIC's campus.
