NIC Graphic Design Exhibit showcases student graphic design work
Friday, May 6, 2005
North Idaho College graphic design students, who have published their work through various venues throughout the region, will have the opportunity to showcase their work during the Graphic Design Exhibit May 9 through 19 in the Boswell Hall Corner Gallery.
“This exhibit is meant to showcase the practical and relevant applications of the graphic design students from the classroom to the real world,” said NIC Graphic Design Instructor Philippe Valle.
The show will feature digital media productions from Illustration 3 students that were created in class and through community service projects. The exhibit is centered around the theme of “The Environment.”
The show will include graphic design pieces by
Kaleb Phillips
of Hayden,
Marcelle Moe
of St. Maries,
Kim Andrews
of Coeur d'Alene,
Dee Falbo
of Coeur d'Alene,
Michael Stephenson
of St. Maries,
James Brighter
of Rathdrum,
Jennifer Thorp
of St. Maries and
Nick Burdett
of Sandpoint.
The show will also feature the graphic design portfolio of NIC graphic design student
Matt Brazee
of Post Falls. All of the works in Brazee's portfolio, including illustrations, business cards, web designs and logos, have been published throughout the region.
“Students in the Graphic Design program at NIC don't just learn how to draw on a computer,” Valle said. “In addition to the visual element of graphic design, they're learning valuable public relations, marketing and advertising skills, all of which helps them become valuable members of the graphic design industry and the community.”
The opening reception for the show will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 9 in the gallery.
The Corner Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission to the gallery is free.
