The first finishers crossed the finish line 3 hours and 23 minutes after tackling the course in North Idaho College's first adventure race, the NIChallenge, held May 7 at Farragut State Park.

A total of 70 participants and 28 teams finished the course, which consisted of 14.8-mile bike ride, about four miles of running, a two-mile paddle and four challenges that sent participants through a rope course, wading into the water, climbing eight feet into a tree and over a climbing wall for checkpoints.

The two-person coed team Two Wheeler Dealer finished the course in 3 hours and 23 minutes. The best time of all the divisions.

Team Valley Fire won the two-person male division with a time of 3 hours and 42 minutes.

The all-male team Seemed Like a Good Idea led the four-person team division with a time of 3 hours, 52 minutes. OP Bootlaces won the four-person coed division with a time of 4 hours, 3 minutes and In the Pink finished in 6 hours and 40 minutes in the all-female four-person division.

The race is part of the Challenge Adventure Race Series offered in western Washington and is cosponsored by NIC's Student Activities Department, Fleet Feet Sports, Two Wheeler Dealer, Mountain View Cycle and Mountain Gear.
