NIC softball team earns academic honors

The North Idaho College softball team was named Spring Academic Team of the Year by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
The team's average GPA for the season was 3.16. Teams must earn an average 3.0 GPA to qualify for the honor.
In addition, sophomore third baseman Erin Johnson of Coeur d'Alene was named as an Academic All-American by the NJCAA for earning a 3.71 GPA last season. Players named to the Academic All-American team must maintain a 3.6 or higher.
Johnson is a Lake City High School graduate studying psychology at NIC.
