Community members encouraged to join NIC choirs
North Idaho College's choral groups are beginning rehearsals for fall semester.
The first rehearsal for the NIC Concert Choir will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in Boswell Hall Room 102 on NIC's main campus.
Those interested in joining the choir should attend this rehearsal to become a choir member. There is no audition necessary for participation, but an individual screening for section placement will take place at the first rehearsal. The choir is free and open to the community and there is no limit on the number of choir members.
The NIC Concert Choir meets regularly throughout the year from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The group performs two to three concerts per year.
Auditions for the select vocal ensemble the NIC Madrigal Singers will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in Boswell Hall Room 102. A maximum of 16 singers will be chosen for this choir.
The NIC Madrigal Singers does not exclusively sing Renaissance madrigals, but performs a wide variety of vocal literature appropriate for the size of the ensemble. The group performs at least four concerts during each academic year. The Madrigal Singers regularly rehearse Tuesdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. throughout the year.
Auditions for Jazz Co., the college's vocal jazz ensemble, will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 in Boswell Hall Room 128. The group performs jazz ensemble, solo and improvisatory singing in two to three concerts per year.
