NIC Community Education courses still open for enrollment

Several North Idaho College community education courses starting in October at the Silver Valley Center in Kellogg are still open for enrollment. Because these courses were confirmed after the printed Workforce Training Center catalog was mailed to all households in Kootenai County, they are not listed in the current edition of the catalog.

Map, Compass and GPS teaches participants how to read a map and use a compass as well as how to use the Global Positioning System for both recreation and commercial purposes. The registration fee is $41 and the class is offered in one session from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

Appalachian Egg Basket with Four Point Lashing teaches participants how to make a 12-inch by 12-inch version of the traditional rib basket that has been documented in many cultures. The registration fee is $45 and the class is offered in two sessions from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 8.

Both classes are offered at the Silver Valley Center, located at 323 Main Street in Kellogg. Advance registration is required for each course.

Register online or call the NIC Workforce Training Center at (208) 769-3333.
