NIC offers free self defense class Sept. 26

Learn how to recognize and avoid danger during “Safe In Your Own Skin,” a self defense workshop, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 in the Lake Coeur d'Alene Room of North Idaho College's Edminster Student Union Building.

The workshop will be led by Greg Beeman, a veteran law enforcement trainer and black belt in martial arts.

Beeman teaches that self defense is about security and the best approach to security is avoidance of dangerous situations. The session will focus on crime prevention as well as techniques to survive a close-range attack.

The self defense workshop is free and open to the public. Free popcorn and lemonade will be provided to participants.

The workshop is sponsored by NIC Counseling Services.
