Final session of 'The People's Law School' series begins Nov. 3

The deadline for enrollment in the final session of North Idaho College’s “The People’s Law School” is Thursday, Oct. 27.

"The People’s Law School” series of noncredit community education classes this fall were designed as an introduction to the law, giving participants a basic understanding of legal rights and how to effectively resolve legal issues when they arise.

The classes will be broadcast simultaneously through interactive video conferencing technology throughout the five northern counties of Idaho. North Idaho residents can take the classes at Boundary Junior High School in Bonners Ferry, the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls, the NIC Sandpoint Center in Sandpoint, the NIC Silver Valley Center in Kellogg or St. Maries High School in St. Maries.

Based on questions and concerns raised during the first and second sessions, the third part of the series will focus even more on practical topics and common issues that affect the general public.

The People’s Law School III will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays Nov. 3, 10 and 17. Participants must register by Oct. 27. This class will focus on consumer, family and elder law.

The enrollment fee is $15 per class, which includes all three sessions.

The classes will be led by local attorneys and Senior Judge James R. Michaud, chair of the First Judicial District’s Bar Association, which is cosponsoring the classes. The lawyers and judges volunteering their time for the presentations include Clark Peterson, Jennifer Brumley-Moore, Dennis Reuter, Hugh Nisbet, Heidi Fisher, Stanley Moore, Howard Funke, Steve Mcrea, Ken Howard, Michael Ramsden, Doug Marfice, Peter Smith, Matthew Grupp, Steve Smith, Alan Wasserman, Louis Garbrecht, David “Rob” Robinson, Judge Penny Friedlander, Wes Somerton, Anne Solomon, Michael Wytychak, Mary Cusack and Judge Scott Wayman.
