NIC Outdoor Pursuits offers telemark ski clinics

Learn the art of telemark skiing during two ski clinics presented by North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits program Saturdays Feb. 4 and 25.
Telemark is a type of turn, first developed in the Telemark region of Norway. Telemark skiing allows a stable and controlled turn on skis when heels are not attached.
Each clinic is accompanied by a class session.
The class session prior to the Feb. 4 clinic will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 with limited instruction and the showing of a demonstrative video. The class session held in conjunction with the Feb. 25 clinic will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22. Both class sessions will be held in the Outdoor Pursuits Office, located on the lower level of NIC’s Edminster Student Union Building.
The hands-on clinics will be held at Lookout Pass and will walk participants through the telemark turn, so only those with previous skiing or snowboarding experience should sign up.
Cost is $30 per participant, which includes lift tickets, transportation and equipment.
