NIC athletes GPA averages nearly 3.0 for fall semester
North Idaho College athletes ended fall semester 2005 with an average grade point average (GPA) of nearly 3.0, indicating that NIC’s athletes are as competitive in the classroom as they are in their respective sports.
Athletes from NIC’s seven sports finished the semester with a team average GPA of 2.956, which is higher than the 2.51 overall average GPA of NIC’s entire student body.
NIC’s softball team led the athletics teams in GPA fall semester, earning a team average of 3.387 followed by the women’s basketball team with 3.367. The rest of the teams finished just below a 3.0, with the men’s basketball team earning a 2.703 GPA, the men’s soccer team a 2.637, the women’s soccer team a 2.842, the volleyball team a 2.925 and the wrestling team a 2.827.
Eleven of the student-athletes earned a spot on the NIC dean’s list, which requires students to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits and obtain a grade point average of 3.75 or above. A total of 76 student-athletes were recognized on the fall 2005 athletic honor roll, which comprises student-athletes enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
