NIC graphic design students to exhibit work at Silver Mountain

The work of North Idaho College graphic design students will be exhibited at the Mountain Tapas Café and Bar in Kellogg beginning Feb. 25.

Through their coursework in a level-three illustration class, students in NIC’s graphic design program created a visual arts project based on a literacy theme.

NIC graphic design instructor Philippe Valle encouraged students to use the various graphic design tools they are learning in class to express their feelings on the broad issue in a way that conveys the same emotion to the viewer.

“But I also wanted them to explore their own feelings and find a way to express those feelings through graphic design,” Valle said.

The result was “Literacy,” a graphic design exhibit of computer-generated pieces created by seven NIC students.

The exhibit will be displayed in the café during its grand opening celebration. The Tapas is located in the heart of Gondolla Village at the base of Silver Mountain Resort.

Graphic design students whose work is displayed include Yuliya Yefremova of Coeur d’Alene, Shelley Page of Dalton Gardens, Chad Severtson of Post Falls, Jack Knecht of Princeton, Susie Lam of Coeur d’Alene, Aaron Barton of Coeur d’Alene, and Julie Peterson of Hayden.
