NIC to host the SWAC Region 18 basketball tournament March 8-11
North Idaho College will host the Scenic West Athletic Conference Region 18 Basketball Tournament March 8 through 11 in NIC’s Christianson Gym.
The tournament kicks off
Wednesday, March 8
(Session A) with three women’s quarterfinals games. No. 4 Dixie State College will take on the No. 5-seeded College of Eastern Utah at 3 p.m. The No. 3 seed Salt Lake Community College will play No. 6 Snow College at 5 p.m. followed by the final match up of the day between No. 2-seeded College of Southern Idaho and No. 7 Colorado Northwestern Community College. The North Idaho College women’s basketball team has a first-round bye in the tournament.
Session B on
Thursday, March 9
will include two men’s quarterfinal games. No. 4 College of Eastern Utah will take on No. 5 Snow College at 5 p.m. followed by the No. 3 seed Dixie State vs. No. 6 Colorado Northwestern Community College.
The men’s and women’s semifinals will be held
Friday, March 10
. Session C will include the winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game vs. the winner of No. 2 vs. No. 7 game in the women’s semifinal at noon. The College of Southern Idaho will take on the winner of the No. 4 game vs. No. 5 game during the men’s semifinal at 2 p.m.
The semifinals will wrap up with Session D in the evening, beginning with North Idaho College vs. the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game in the women’s semifinal game at 6 p.m. NIC will take on the winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game in the men’s semifinal at 8 p.m.
The tournament championship games (Session E) will be held at 5 p.m. for the women’s regional title and 7:30 p.m. for the men’s title
Saturday, March 11
Tickets for individual sessions are $8 for reserved upper level seats, $5 for general admission for students and $6 for general admission for adults.
Tournament passes, which allow entry to all sessions of the tournament, are $22 for reserved upper level seats, $14 for general admission for students and $20 for general admission for adults.
For tickets, call the NIC Box Office at (208) 769-7780 or visit the box office in Boswell Hall between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Free 15-minute parking is available along the curb in front of the box office.
Tickets will be available at the door if there are tickets remaining. Student, booster club and other complimentary athletics event passes are invalid for postseason games.
