NIC Outdoor Pursuits offers summer clinics

North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits program is offering several clinics this summer to get people started with the basics of some of the area’s many outdoor activities.
“Learn How to Rock Climb” will be offered Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 12, 19, 26 and Aug. 2. Instruction will begin on the climbing wall behind NIC’s Edminster Student Union Building and successive sessions will be in Q’emiln Park in Post Falls. The four-session clinic is open to all ability levels. The cost of the clinic is $80, which covers instruction and equipment.
No previous experience is necessary for “Learn How to Lake Kayak,” offered Thursday nights from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17, 24, 31 and Sept. 7 on Lake Coeur d’Alene. The cost for the four-session clinic is $80, which includes instruction and equipment.
Outdoor Pursuits will also be leading a “Youth Sailing Clinic” for those ages 8 to 12 on Lake Coeur d’Alene. The four-session clinic will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26. The clinic will cover the fundamentals of sailing, safe operation of a sailboat and basic terminology. Participants must know how to swim. The $80 fee includes all equipment and instruction.
