NIC women's basketball team earns academic honors
The North Idaho College women’ basketball team was named as an Academic All-American Team by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
The team’s average GPA for the season was 3.4. Teams must earn an average 3.0 GPA to qualify for the designation. This is the second consecutive year that the women’s basketball team has earned this honor.
In addition, two NIC players Sara Dennehy of Redmond, Wash., and Caitlin Courchaine of Spokane, Wash., were recently named to the NJCAA 2005-2006 Academic All-American Team as individuals. Both helped lead the NIC women’s basketball team to its first Scenic West Athletic Conference basketball conference championship since 1987.
