Men's soccer team starts with a 5-0 win

The North Idaho College men's soccer team opened its season at home last Saturday with a 5-0 shutout against Western Wyoming Community College at Bill Eisenwinter Field on the NIC campus.
NIC sophomore captain John Prugh got the Cardinals going in the first half with a goal and an assist and sophomore Alex Day scored the first two goals of his career in the second half to lead the NIC team to its home opener victory. Also scoring for NIC were freshmen David Powers and Jared Bork.
NIC outshot Western 27-4 and freshmen goalkeepers Seth Baker and Bob Verschoor kept a clean sheet in the first match of the 2006 season.
The Cardinals play Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash., at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1. The Pirates are currently ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division III pre-season standings.
