NJCAA poll ranks NIC volleyball team third in the nation

The North Idaho College volleyball team (17-3) was ranked third in the nation in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I volleyball poll released Sept. 13.
Miami-Dade College (5-0) of Miami, Fla., was ranked No. 1 in the poll followed by Western Nebraska Community College (20-1) of Scottsbluff, Neb.
Cardinal setter Lauren Stern of Coeur d’Alene ranks 10th nationally with 10.87 assists per game. Outside hitter Cintia Alessi of Curitiba, Brazil ranks 24th in the nation with .78 service aces per game. Other Cardinal leaders are NIC middle blocker Daidre Mendenhall of Spokane, Wash., with 2.8 kills per game, outside hitter Konae Purcell of Aiea, Hawaii, with 3.4 kills per game and middle blocker Melissa Kravetz of Las Vegas, Nev., with .78 blocks per game.
