Men rebound with 1-0 win over Whitman (NCAA Division III)

The NIC men's soccer team put together a strong performance on Sunday to defeat Whitman College, an NCAA Division III school, with a 1-0 victory in Walla Walla. It was a total team effort with the Cardinals outshooting Whitman 13-10 and freshman goalkeeper Seth Baker earning his third shutout of the season. The lone score of the game came in the 71st minute after a scramble in front of the Whitman goal. NIC freshman forward Blake Hayashi knocked the ball loose to sophomore midfielder Pat Sullivan who drove it into the left panel for the game winner.
NIC travels to Salt Lake City this weekend for its first Scenic West Athletic Conference match on Friday at 4 p.m. against Salt Lake Community College and a nonconference match on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Laramie County Community College.  Both matches will be played at the SLCC Redwood Campus.
