NJCAA poll ranks NIC volleyball team second in the nation

The North Idaho College volleyball team (22-4) improved to second in the nation in second National Junior College Athletic Association Division I volleyball poll of the 2006 season released today.
NIC moved up one spot from its No. 3 ranking last week as did the third-ranked team Iowa Western Community College (29-1) of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Western Nebraska Community College moved from second to first this week with a record of 26-1.
Cardinal setter Lauren Stern of Coeur d’Alene ranks 10th nationally with 11 assists per game. Outside hitter Cintia Alessi of Curitiba, Brazil leads the team with .63 service aces and 3.7 digs per game. Other Cardinal leaders are NIC middle blocker Daidre Mendenhall of Spokane, Wash., with .63 blocks per game, outside hitter Konae Purcell of Aiea, Hawaii, with 3.2 kills per game and outside hitter Amanda Misa of St. George, Utah with 2.9 kills per game.
