Recap of NIC men's soccer game vs. Salt Lake at home Oct. 21: NIC rebounds with 2-1 victory over Salt Lake

NIC's Cody Steele scored a goal in each half to lead the Cardinals to a tough 2-1 win over Scenic West Athletic Conference opponent Salt Lake Community College. Steele opened the scoring in a very physical first half with a great effort in the 20th minute. After getting behind the Bruin defense, he followed his own shot that struck the far post and finished the rebound to put the Cardinals up 1-0. Salt Lake countered with a header in the 68th minute from Darren Perucci. Steele scored the match-winning goal three minutes later off a free kick taken by sophomore midfielder Travis Jette.
The win over Salt Lake puts the Cardinals at 10-3-1 for the season. NIC will host Colorado Mountain College at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at NIC's Eisenwinter Field for a spot in the West Division Finals on Saturday Nov. 4 against the Region I champion.
