NIC selects members of the presidential search advisory committee
North Idaho College announced during the Jan. 31 NIC Board of Trustees meeting the names of those selected to the 22-member Presidential Search Advisory Committee, charged with reviewing candidates to replace current NIC president Michael Burke. For More Information
Burke resigned in early January after accepting a position as president of San Jose City College in San Jose, Calif.
More than 60 people were nominated or volunteered for the 11 spots on the committee filled by community members. The other 11 spots were reserved for members of the NIC campus community.
The NIC Presidential Search Advisory Committee comprises:
Ron Catlan, retired sales representative
Dick Compton, former Kootenai County commissioner and Idaho legislator
Linda Davis, Copper Basin Construction
Kimber Gates, Coeur d’Alene Cellars
Mike Kennedy, Coeur d’Alene City Council
Tim Komberec, Empire Airlines
Claudia Miewald, North Idaho Behavioral Health
Don Myers, Flexcel
Sandy Patano, state director for U.S. Senator Larry Craig
Wanda Quinn, former Coeur d’Alene School District Board and local attorney
Sue Thilo, Idaho State Board of Education
Gary Coffman, Counseling Services, Testing Center and Advising Services director
Jeanne Emerson, English instructor
Sandra Jacquot, senior accountant
Joe Jacoby, theater director
Michelle Lippert, philosophy instructor
Bob Murray, dean of general studies and biology instructor
Eric Murray, vice president for Student Services
Judy Parker, dean of professional education
Meredith Satterlee, Associated Students of NIC
Steve Ruppel, Information Technology director
Al Williams, athletics director
Quinn and Eric Murray will be asked to co-chair the committee. Alternates were also selected for each group, in case the members of the committee are not able to serve.
The NIC Presidential Search Advisory Committee is expected to convene once the NIC Board of Trustees has hired a consultant to direct the presidential search process, which is expected within the next few weeks.
