EPHRAIM, UTAH – North Idaho College knocked No. 4-seeded College of Eastern Utah out of the NJCAA Region 18 Tournament Wednesday with an 80-64 first-round upset victory.

NIC scored an even 40 points per half in the win and shot .476 from the field making 30 of 63 attempts. Eastern Utah converted 21 of 64 and shot .328 from the field.

Sophomore guard Nick Livi hit five of NIC’s nine 3-pointers and led the Cardinals in scoring with 21 points. Livi was one of two players in the game and the only player from the Cards to shoot 100 percent from the line. He made all four of his free-throw attempts.

In addition to Livi, sophomores Scott Stockwell (guard) and Zach Parks (center) scored in double digits. Stockwell went five-for-seven from the field and sunk one 3-pointer. He led the Cards in steals with three and was one of the two players in the game to have three or more steals. His 37 minutes of play was the most of any Cardinal. Stockwell finished with 12 points.

Parks started the game at center and finished with 11 points. He played 19 minutes, shot five-for-seven from the field and had a block.

Freshman guard Jamal Rolle and freshman wing Tresean Owens each added nine points. Rolle led NIC in rebounds with 11, 10 coming from the defensive end and was one point away from a double-double. He was three-of-seven from the field and registered a block.

NIC, seeded fifth, will take on rival College of Southern Idaho in the second round of the tournament.
