Best High School Juniors Honored at NIC as Top Scholars

The Top Scholars Program is intended to draw attention to the best high school juniors in Idaho’s Region I high schools. Sponsored by North Idaho College and the Region 1 high schools, the top 10 percent of each junior class was invited to NIC for recognition Monday, April 23 as part of the Top Scholars Program.

"North Idaho College has as one of its top priorities the desire to support our high school students, to recognize their achievement, and to encourage them to continue their education after high school. Said Eric Murray, Ph.D., NIC’s Vice President for Student Services.

“This program demonstrated that the high schools and the college continue to work as partners to meet these goals.”

Dr. Richard Thurston, Chief of Staff at Benewah Community Hospital in St. Maries, gave the key note talk on “Continuing Your Education Work.”

Fourteen area schools were represented and each scholar was given a certificate and a gift from NIC.

“The Top Scholars program made you aware of just how many students are succeeding academically," said Murray.
