No. 7-seeded North Idaho College defeated 11th-seed Temple College (25-22, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23) Friday, Nov. 18 at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) tournament.
Yang Yang, NIC's 6-foot-2-inch middle blocker from China, led the team with 14 kills and six blocks. Mariah Smith from Boise had 10 digs and 11 kills. Setter Sierra Pancho from Newport, Wash., led with 25 assists and libero Emily Sarff from Spokane had two aces.
NIC will face 12th-seed Mineral Area College at 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) Saturday, Nov. 19. The match will be webcast live at on http://www.ihigh.com/njcaatv/ and www.psblive.com. The winner takes ninth place in the nation.
